The overall goal of the design was to create an urban linear park along the southwest bay front of La Habana’s Malecon, while integrating a new construction. The Recreational Center enhances connectivity, place-making, resilience, as well as opportunities to support the Cuban community. After making an environmental study of Havana, and seeing the imminent threat of sea level rise affecting the waterfront, many decisions were made regarding the design of the Recreational Center.
